About Dictionary Nepal

Preserving and promoting the linguistic heritage of Nepal through a modern, accessible dictionary.

Nepali language heritage

Our Mission

Dictionary Nepal was created with a simple yet powerful mission: to preserve, promote, and make accessible the diverse languages of Nepal. It's the Wikitionary for Nepali and other languages of Nepal.

In a rapidly globalizing world, many languages face the threat of decline or extinction. By creating a comprehensive digital dictionary that includes not only Nepali and English but also languages like Newari, Limbu, and Rai, we aim to contribute to the preservation of Nepal's rich linguistic heritage.

Our Approach

Research Thoroughly

Each entry is carefully researched to ensure accuracy in meanings, translations, and usage across multiple languages.

Embrace Technology

We leverage modern web technologies to create a fast, responsive, and user-friendly experience for all users.

Involve the Community

We believe in the power of collective knowledge. Users can contribute to the dictionary, suggesting new words or improvements.

Prioritize Accessibility

We design with accessibility in mind, ensuring that Nepali Dictionary (Shabdakosh) is usable by people of all abilities.

Our Story

Nepali Dictionary began as a passion project by a small team of language enthusiasts and developers who recognized the need for a modern, accessible dictionary for Nepali and other languages of Nepal.

What started as a simple word list has grown into a comprehensive platform with thousands of words, meanings, and translations. Our journey has been guided by the belief that language resources should be freely available to all.
